Economics Summer Schools at Barcelona GSE

The Barcelona Graduate School of Economics welcomes the summer with a diverse range of summer schools in economics and related fields.

 

These short summer programs are addressed to researchers, professionals and graduate students who want to improve their competences in specific fields of knowledge. Renowned academics and leading practitioners teach our summer school courses, which draw participants from all over the world.

The courses are designed with modularity so that participants can customize their own summer school program, tailored to their individual goals and interests.

Course Calendar

Barcelona Banking Summer School

Dates: June 25 - July 6, 2012Directors:  Xavier Freixas (UPF and Barcelona GSE) and Moshe Kim (University of Haifa)

Courses: Banking Theory, Empirical Banking - Imperfect Competition, Regulation of Banks and Risk Management: Pre- and Post-Crisis, and Empirical Banking - Methodological Aspects

 

Barcelona Microeconometrics Summer School

Dates: June 25 - July 6, 2012 Director: Sergi Jiménez-Martin (UPF and Barcelona GSE)

Courses: Panel Data Linear Analysis, Quantitative Methods for Public Policy Evaluation, Applied Non-Parametric Methods, and Dynamic and Non-linear Panel Data Models.

 

Barcelona Labor Economics Summer School

Dates: July 2-6, 2012

Director:  Maia Güell (University of Edinburgh)

Courses: Determination of Wages, Family Economics, Labor Market Outcomes, and Personnel Economics

Language

All Barcelona GSE Economics Summer Schools are given in English.

 

Location

Barcelona Economics Summer Schools are taught at the Ciutadella campus of the Barcelona GSE, site of the Pompeu Fabra University. The campus is located in downtown Barcelona, within walking distance of both the beach and the city's financial, cultural and governmental centers.

 

Admissions Process

Application Period Begins: March 1
Suggested Application Deadline: May 31*
* After this deadline, your place may not be guaranteed.

 

Applications will be evaluated by the program directors and candidates will be informed of their decision. A document will be attached to our response with payment information. At the conclusion of the Summer Schools, participants will receive a certificate for the number of hours attended. All Barcelona GSE courses require an average of twice the lecture hours for readings, pre-readings and class preparation. Interested students should check with their universities to see how these hours are transferable into ECTS credits.

 

UPF Summer Programs

UPF LeeX Experimental Economics Summer School in Macroeconomics 

June 11-15, 2012

 

An intensive 4-day summer school devoted to instructing macroeconomists in experimental methods will be offered on the UPF Ciutadella Campus. This summer school promotes experimental methods among macroeconomists and assists with and critiques participants' proposals for macroeconomic experiments.
